Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with complex special educational needs?

Do you have the patience, empathy and dedication to help create a safe, supportive environment where every pupil can thrive?

- Full-time SEN Teaching Assistant role starting ASAP

- Supportive specialist SEN school environment

- Competitive salary

- Excellent opportunities for professional growth

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist all-age SEN school in the Merton area. The school supports children and young people aged 3–19 with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. The setting provides highly individualised support within a structured, nurturing environment where staff work closely together to meet each pupil’s needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 or small-group basis, helping them access learning activities tailored to their individual needs. You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to support communication, sensory regulation, physical development and daily routines. The role also involves promoting positive behaviour, encouraging independence and supporting pupils’ social and emotional development in a calm and safe environment.

To be successful, you should have experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly those with severe or complex learning difficulties. Experience supporting pupils with autism, physical needs or sensory impairments is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs are essential.

If you are ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex SEN, apply today and take the next step in your career.
