We are looking to appoint a committed and nurturing SEN
Teacher to join a specialist primary setting in South London, supporting pupils
in Key Stages 1 and 2. The role focuses on working with children who have
profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism, and complex medical
and physical needs.
This position requires an SEN Teacher who is confident
delivering a highly adapted, sensory-based curriculum, with a strong emphasis
on communication, engagement, and early developmental skills. Many pupils are
pre-verbal and rely on alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton,
and other AAC approaches.
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for planning
and delivering creative, multi-sensory lessons that support pupils’ cognitive,
physical, and emotional development. The role also involves working closely
with support staff to ensure that pupils’ personal care, sensory regulation,
and medical needs are met throughout the school day.
The school adopts a holistic, child-centred approach,
with a strong focus on communication, independence, and quality of life. You
will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and
specialist support staff, to provide a consistent and nurturing environment
where every child can thrive.
This role would suit an SEN teacher with experience in either
mainstream or specialist settings who is passionate about working with pupils
with complex needs and is confident in a hands-on, highly supportive classroom
environment.
