Job Description

Are you an experienced HLTA passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs?

Do you have the skills and confidence to help create a structured, engaging learning environment where every pupil can thrive?

- Full-time HLTA role starting ASAP

- Permanent opportunities available

- Supportive specialist SEN school environment

- Excellent opportunities for professional growth

We are seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in the Croydon area. The school supports pupils with autism, social, emotional and mental health needs and additional learning difficulties, providing a structured and nurturing environment where staff work collaboratively to support both academic progress and personal development.

As a HLTA, you will support pupils within the classroom, deliver targeted interventions and occasionally lead lessons across a range of subjects. You will work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to promote engagement, positive behaviour and independence, while supporting pupils’ social and emotional development within a safe and consistent classroom environment.

To be successful, you should have strong experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally within a specialist or inclusive setting. Previous experience as an HLTA or leading small-group learning is highly desirable. Strong communication skills, resilience and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils are essential.

If you are ready to make a meaningful difference in SEN education and take the next step in your career, apply today!
