Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs to reach their full potential?

Do you have the patience, empathy, and resilience to make a real difference in a specialist learning environment?

-Long-term role starting immediately

-Supportive and inclusive school environment

-Opportunity to work with young people who need guidance, structure, and encouragement

-Excellent professional development and training opportunities

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in High Wycombe that supports young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. Some students also have autism spectrum conditions (ASC), social communication difficulties or associated learning challenges. While some have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), support is tailored to meet each child’s individual needs.

As an SEN  Teaching Assistant, you will help students to engage with learning and make progress both academically and personally. You will work one-to-one and in small groups, supporting lessons, promoting positive behaviour strategies, and building strong, trusting relationships. The role focuses on developing resilience, independence and self-confidence, alongside academic support.

To be successful, you should have experience working with young people with additional needs, ideally in an SEN or SEMH setting. Strong communication skills, patience and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential, as is a commitment to creating a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
